Where
can I find referrals in my area? We
get lots of mail requesting referrals in other areas of the country.
If you happen to live in or near San Diego you can call us, otherwise
here are some guidelines to help you find an appropriate referral. ·
Schools:
Ask you child’s teacher or counselor if they know of a therapist who
specializes with children or adolescents. ·
Doctors:
Ask your child’s pediatrician for a referral.
Often times M.D.’s are connected to mental health professionals.
In addition, your health insurance may require a referral from your
physician. ·
Youth
Organizations: Check with your
local YMCA or church youth group for referrals, these organizations are closely
tied in with services for children and teens. ·
National or
State Organizations: Check your
yellow pages or web directory for National or State mental health organizations
that may offer referrals in your area. Examples
are The California Association of Marriage and Family
Therapists, The American
Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the American Psychological
Association. |
