PETE McCLINTOCK M.A., MFT
I was born in Santa Barbara CA and I moved to San Diego in 1977 to attend San Diego State University, I earned my bachelors degree in 1980. I've always had an interest in working with children and adolescents and in 1981 I began a six year career working with troubled youth who were part of the probation system. After getting married in 1986 I returned to school, receiving a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego in 1988. I did internships in both private practice settings and community agencies, and I became a licensed therapist in 1990. I worked in both private practice and in a community based organization, Harmonium Inc.. I eventually became the Clinical Director of Adolescent Services at Harmonium Inc., where I developed and managed numerous counseling programs in the community for both adolescents and children. In 1998 I left Harmonium Inc. to devote all of my time to my private practice. In addition to providing individual, marital, and family counseling, I began to expand my practice to include groups for children, adolescents, and parents. I am a clinical member of both the California and the American Associations of Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition I am an AAMFT approved supervisor providing training and supervision to both licensed and unlicensed therapists. I also have extensive experience working in the area of anger management with children and adolescents. Other contributions I have made in the area of anger management include parent and teacher presentations, written articles, and a guest appearance on PBS radio.
